30th May saw the temporary introduction of a bus service from Quainton Road to Verney Junction, via Granborough Rd and Winslow Rd. This must be the first time for many a year that a bus with the destination sign of Verney Junction has actually been at the Verney Junctiuon station site. It was organised in conjunction with the Quainton Rd Bus Rally, and was an hourly service. I've bought it, but not yet read it.

Funnily enough I walked the approximate route of the A&B last week as part of a walk from Wendover to Buckingham. If I'd have known the rail replacement service was due I'd have waited a few days! :-)

Sorry about the url tags.
Also very sorry indeed to note the state of the abandoned Verney Arms pub. The premises are all but derelict now. I understand there were severe damp/ water ingress problems which have led to this state of affairs. The final indignity is that the post outside with the pub sign appears to have rotted through at the base, toppled, and is now lying across the pub forecourt.
I expect that inevitably this will either be rebuilt as a luxury home for someone, or worse demolished completely. Personally, I think it should be saved for the nation....
