The points in the depot are hand-worked. It is only the points (No.18) just in advance of outlet signal BR 19 that are power operated.

To answer the OP though the points are still hand operated, technically speaking, even if done by machine! I must say a very neat idea, is LUL fitting them in all depots? I assume that only shunters have the remote control handsets.

Straight from the horses mouth -
"The hand worked points still remain in London Road and are still hand worked, the equipment on 13 points referred to on the link is suggested as being linked to the recent derailment (8/4/11) in the depot. So at present the status quo remains."

While we're on the subject, is there a way of seeing units in the depot area without actuallty being at ground level?

Unless it's in the public domain, I doubt you'd get an answer to that - It's not an area I know too well, and security issues probably prevent too much information getting out anyway. Still, you never know.

The information is in the public domain - so you'll have to search for it jake33 - welcome to the forum, BTW.

I don't think there is a security issue in revealing that the depot sidings can be seen from the top deck of buses using St Georges Road (travelling westbound from the Elephant towards Westminster). You even get a glimpse on Streeetview

Lovely pictures, you got excellent weather for them aswell. The first view is a very frequent one, it appears in London's Underground in both 7th and 8th editions from different decades.
Seems very different to both though now!

Last I heard was that an attempt is planned to get it to Ruislip for onward shipment to Booths, possibly using 3067 to tow it out.
Regards,
Dan

Yep, me too. But don't know when.
Difficult now to get something onto and off the Bakerloo if you have to involve this new-fangled signalling system on the Jubilee.

So it has no prospect of ever turning a wheel in anger again? Why was it sent to London Road in the first place?

An old copy of UN suggests it went there to become a possible spare...
