Why weren't the new stations linked to the current central line ones at Westfield? Wood Lane and White City are next to each other, and the Shepards Bushes are opposite each other. It's West Hampstead/Edgware Road/Paddington all over again!!!

I've travelled between White City and Wood Lane and twixt the two Shepherds Bush(s). I must have covered almost 300 yards in the process.

It was mentioned during construction of having a new station [re] opened on the site of the former CLR Wood Lane, however, depot access tracks now cut across the site of the former eastbound platform. It was considered that White City is within fair walking distance of Westfield, so a station right next to this would be unnecessary. Not to mention the close proximity of stations would obviously affect overall timetabled end to end journey times.

Think you have missed the point of his question which is why are they not linked, presumably on the paid side of the barriers. Clearly you would still have to walk between them, however if linked said walk would be more convenient and would not involve using a ticket barrier.

Cheaper - especially at Shepherds Bush where connecting LU and LO "inside" the barrier line would mean extensive tunnelling.

It's all about the £££. What's the point when as mentioned above the interchanges are a very easy walk? The OSI aspect of Oyster allows TFL to manage the legacy issues from private railway construction with minimal cost. What we need now is Oyster to recognise bus journeys between OSIs, or am I just too lazy to walk between Park Royal and Hangar Lane once every 6 weeks If the stations mentioned hadn't been in already convenient locations I'm sure Westfield would have put up the cash to relocate them inside the mall. As it is whoever came up with the idea of a mall there is an absolute genius, the transport links are fantastic.

It would not have been all that expensive to put a tunnel through when they were building/rebuilding the two stations. All it would have needed was a simple open trench with precast tunnel sections and ramps at both ends.

Providing interchanges gets cut from a lot of projects because of cost/benefit. The BR interchanges on the Victoria line were an example. Perhaps though in time maybe something might happen? OSIs create something of a psychological barrier to intergrated transport.
