I have a standard sized Edison screw bulb, blue tipped, made by Osram, 240volt, 5 watt, which glows with a pink neon glow (it doesn't have a filament). But it does work as of ten minutes ago.
It is stamped LTE, so is post 1948 but what stock is it from?
I'm not touting for business but it is currently on eBay as a railwayana collectors' curio.
If I had known about this site before last Sunday I would have offered it here for anyone interested.
The eBay item number is 140538812507. Have a look and see if you can tell me where it is from. It first got into my toolkit when I joined London Transport in 1970 at Ruislip depot and was still there when I took voluntary severance from Tube Lines in January this year.
Please report and have this thread deleted this if selling is not allowed. I really am only posting this as a matter of curiosity.

It is an Osglim light Osglim. Earliest direct reference I can find to them is in my 1940 Air Raid Precautions book. It is not a pilot light. If I were in your position I would withdraw it from sale and offer it to the London Transport Museum first.

As said by mrfs42, at 240v definitely not a pilot light bulb from rolling stock.

Apologies for the double-post, but "The seller ended the listing early and cancelled all bids". I believe it's going to a good home instead.

I can remember the long passageway at Upminster Bridge being lit with blue bulbs during the war, perhaps this bulb was from a similar installation.
