I've two questions regarding Camden Road. 1. Last night, just past five, as I got onto platform 2 I saw the back of a chocolate and beige coloured train disappearing over the points towards Primrose Hill. The carriages looked like the old inter city style ( from when I was a regular back in the 80's!). Anyone know what this train was? 2. Most evenings the 17.11 LOL service to Stratford from Camden road is late not arriving until 17.15 at the earliest? Is this to do with the working timetable rather than the published timetable or does it have some other cause? The trains either side do seem to run "on time" so what is behind this?

The train you saw was the 'Northern Belle' charter train. It was on its way from the ECML to Victoria via the NLL and WLL. The train was pulled by two DRS class 47 locos, and arrived at Victoria on schedule at 17.51. It was followed up by a DRS class 37 which took the train as ECS back to Wembley to night stop before heading north back to Crewe. The coaches are dressed out to resemble Pulman cars, although they are mk.3 coaching stock!

Isn't there a charter train of former MCCW-built Mk II Pullman cars in trad Pullman livery? STOP PRESS: beaten to it whilst typing!

I am afraid that traincrews have to work to the working timetable when regulating time, and since this amended timetable due to the renewal and extension of Latchmere Road Junction, a lot of trains are sometimes up to 5 minutes difference to the published passenger timetable. Not sure about your particular train, but i can have a look and find out if it is one that is noticeably different.

Ahh, is this discrepancy between timetables the reason I keep seeing the DMIs at Camden Road (and other places) warning people "this train is not scheduled to stop here" for perfectly normal, on-time trains? I've seen this on about five different occasions recently, but I'd assumed it was just teething trouble in the new system.
