Started off as being suspended between Parsons Green and Wimbledon, due to a fire alert at Putney Bridge. Now showing as being suspended between Earl's Court and Wimbledon due t emergency engineering works, also at Putney Bridge. Anyone know what's happened?

When I was passing through Earl's Court around 3pm a friend of mine had his personal connect radio on. Controller was relaying a message that the signal main had gone down, presumably damaged by the fire. Had to get to Wimbledon, managed to so via LO to Clapham Junction. Looking at signals when I got to Wimbledon I could see no aspects showing.

Sounded pretty bad but it seems it was sorted out quite quickly - I must have been hearing it just as it happened this morning as one announcement "No service west of Earls Court" then "No service between Earls Court and Wimbledon" and then I got to Earls Court and trains were turning at Parsons Green (but still saying Wimbledon on the DMI on the platform).

This evening, the service messages at the east end of the network (audio and electronic whiteboards) were all saying the District had minor delays due to a signal failure earlier at Parsons Green. Was this the same incident or just an unlucky coincidental failure?

There was a suspension due to "smouldering" aka fire alert from about 1340 (or thereabouts), then at about 1500, it must have got through to the Signal Main! Lucky really it took a while to knock it out, as when the Signal Main went the other week there were about 30 odd trains stuck and two SPaDs!

The signal main fault was nothing to do with the original fire at Putney Bridge it was down to a faulty link box in the Parsons Green area once isolated the signal main came back on
