So can anyone confirm or deny that the new moquette seat patterns on the Central Line trains are be rolled out this month?
(they're mainly based on the colour blue, rather than red .. which i think is going to look weird)
(but not as weird as having Piccadilly coloured grab handles on the new Victoria line trains...)

Lets not forget the yellow grab handles and blue panelling on the Jubilee Line trains.

The refurb was supposed to start with the introduction of TT66 on 6 March, as far as I understood the plan was to remove two trains from service at a time. I'd imagine you should see "blue moquette" trains coming in soon but I've certainly not driven a full "blue" yet or heard any of my felllow TOps doing so.

PS on page 3 of the "Less tape on cabs" (Central Line) discussion there's a photo of the interior of the unit used to trial the new seating, lighting and windows.

Oh, I hadn't realised this was being discussed in the 'tape', thread ... mainly because i have no idea what 'tape on cabs', actually means.
so, i think having a blue coloured moquette pattern in a 'red' central trains doesn't work, and looks ugly. but if you follow the links through to the BBC story on it, you get the impression that the same new blue coloured moquette may be rolled out to other trains/lines also?

I asked some of the assistants at the Aldwych Exhibition about the new moquette and they gave me the impression that the new Evolo trains for the Bakerloo and Piccadilly lines will definitely have the new moquette; this is fair enough as both lines currently use blue seats anyhow. On the contrary, the 2009 and S stocks won't be changing to the new moquette. As for the Northern and Jubilee lines I'm not sure, but they most likely will eventually.

The last I heard was that the 92s will be refurbed in the blue moquette in time for the Olympics, it's a done deal, too late to turn back, etc. The new trains for the Picc which we were told in 2008 would arrive in 2014 were cancelled last year with no date given as to when they would be replaced. The Bakerloo replacements were due in 2020 but will now obviously be delayed. No idea about Jubilee or Northern.

GRRRRR! 72ts are needing replacement, 73ts aren't!!! LUL need to realise that. You can't hear announcments, or yourself think, on a 72ts train!!!

I think the new moquette looks silly. why isn't it colour coordinated for the central line?

If you think about it, this is the only stock left in near original condition now, bar the 300 or so software updates!
All other lines have refurbed stock or new stock coming in!

*Why* would the S stock moquette ever be replaced? I think it's perfect and the design is brilliant - and actually means something!
