Whilst waiting for an Edgware Road train at Putney Bridge to-day, I saw a train (C stock) pull in to platform 2 (the siding).
I walked back down the stairs to ask the staff which platform the next Edgware Road train would be leaving from. The station assistant was adamant that all such trains left from Platform 1. The conversation became heated - fortunately the layout of the station is such that I was able to talk to the guy in the control room, and explain that there was a train in platform 2. He said he didn't know where it was going. Then it occurred to him that perhaps he ought to know, and he did the necessary to find out! (It was indeed an Edgware Road service, and he announced it, although there probably wasn't time for anyone else to board it.)
It occurred to me that while the station assistant was wrong in what she said, she will be right AIUI when the S7 stock starts to operate the service. Are there any H&S issues with passengers boarding trains reversing in platform 2 at Putney Bridge? Clearly they could run back to Parsons Green out of service. Is there a view amongst staff that this would be a better way to run the railway?

Depends on the notice given with regards to pfm2 being used probably. Similar situations arise at Rayners Lane when trains go East off the Westbound...

An S7 will not fit into the bay road, so I expect like Chalfont bay it will be removed or perhaps platform 3 will be removed and bay will become a through road?
Harrow and Wealdstone is anther common example. There is a crossover south of Putney Bridge so this may get used more?

You'd have hoped that the District Line information specialist would have contacted the station supervisor at Putney Bridge and then the SS would have contacted their staff and advised the public accordingly.
