I was at North Harrow early this afternoon, waiting for the 12.20 to Baker Street (for a longer ride on the S-Stock than I managed last year).
Just as the S-stock train was arriving, a train formed
20 189, 20 227, the 'teak' 4 TC with 12 'Sarah Siddons' on the rear.
went south on the fast.
The train was then seen in Harrow-on-the-Hill platform 2, presumably reversing. Can anyone let me know what it was doing. Due to the rain, I didn't get my camera out and so I missed the chance of a picture of a rake of Mk Is alongside an S-stock train.

Thanks for the info, I thought it was a bit early in the year for a test run before the Rickmansworth Canal festival (which is still over seven weeks away).

Thanks for the info, I thought it was a bit early in the year for a test run before the Rickmansworth Canal festival (which is still over seven weeks away). And it all seemed to go breasts up following a points failure at Rickmansworth at about 12.45! The Track Recording Train which was also out, had managed to get to 40 early, and I bet they STILL finished way before schedule! Don't know what became of 'Siddons' and her invited guests after the first rounder to Amersham though!

It would be very good to do the three generations of Met stock side by side for publicity; Sarah and the VCT dreadnoughts, a 4car A, and an S... perhaps for the Met 150 celebrations.
Once again the anniversary will fall just after a major upgrade of the line; it would be an excellent photo oppertunity.

It was sent south, with the tour ending early. Ironic that this is the first "major" failure of pointwork in the Chalfont area since the regular through Chesham service began, and it happened in front of the (lightly loaded) train of ex-LU employees. Confirming in their minds no doubt that things really are as bad as they'd heard since leaving ;D The TRT always books certain paths, and always ends up removing certain parts of those paths as they duplicate those done the previous day/week. It did get back to depot well over an hour early ;D

As I've said so many times, this sort of thing is not beyond the realms of possibility. S-stock and A-stock combinations can be arranged more or less on a daily basis. Name your location, cross my palm with a suitable currency (booze or money accepted) and consider it arranged ;D If anything else is out there at the time, that too can be lined up (though of course the payment will vary dependant on what it is ;D ;D )

I am only reporting what I heard, AND WAS TOLD, at that location. left and right hands once again come to mind! Certainly, after the foul up on the Jubilee this morning at Waterloo (or maybe it was at Stanmore ), followed by this, my travel experience yesterday was NOT a good one! Glad to see the 'TWATS' on the TRT managed to extricate themselves with their usual panache! ;D As I normally 'rely' on the Central Line, and have had to for many years, that is not saying much!

Only heard about this at the last minute and got over to Amersham to see the first working arrive - I didn't wait around for the second train as the heavens had opened and it became very wet, but just as well it seems as the run was curtailed... Just one shot on my new site so far (replacement for my Fotopic site - got a long way to go to to get back to where I was...), a couple more yet to add: plumbloco.smugmug.com/Trains/PlumbLoco/16190333_EXCT2#1234044097_oC2Qc-A-LBCheers, Geoff
