Curious anomaly with the describers at Richmond today, showing all District departures as "Anerley" ! Several passengers studying the London Connections maps posted to try and find the route to be taken, considering the closure east of Embankment today ! tinyurl.com/6y8nvrstinyurl.com/6gg93jn

Is St. Mary's curve still traversable? No, the track was removed either last year (or possibly even in 2009) and the points (both on the ELL and the District) also taken up.

Well, apart from it was supposedly too narrow on the final curve onto the ELL for two trains to pass, you would be going from a 4 rail to a three rail system. What, apart from Sarah Siddons, is equipped to be able to run on both?

Trains can't terminate at Anerley, can they? (They could terminate for many years in SYX catalogues, but that's another story!)

Only the junction work was removed in 2009. The plain line on the curve itself is still in place when I explored it briefly earlier this year.

Likewise the disused northbound at Angel has a full set of running rails, negative rail is missing though. Same applies at London Bridge in the short section of southbound tunnel remaining, though here (nearly) everything north of the platform has been backfilled whilst much of the tunnel to the south of the platform is now equipment rooms.

I've never been to Richmond so I'm not sure if there is a crossover onto NR rails. But if there is they can take this route:
Richmond to Queenstown Road (Battersea) and then round to Wandsworth Road. Continue down to Herne Hill, Streatham, Tooting, Wimbledon, Sutton, West Croydon, Anerly. ;D
Yes that would be quite a journey and where they would terminate I don't know.

It would also require something other than C or D stock, as I don' t think there's any fourth rail on that route (the fourth-rail equipped platforms at Richmond being bays not accessible from the Clapham-bound roads other than via a double shunt that the signalling may or may not allow)

I've seen this before at Richmond. I suspect Anerley is the first station alphabetically that's programmed into the DMI system, so presumably it defaults to that when it has no clue!

I'd have though that Aldgate or Aldgate East would be the more logical contender for the alphabetically first station programmed into a District Line DMI. Acton Central is the alphabetically first station on the tube map, and is served by direct LO trains from Richmond every day, so I don't think it's solely due to the alphabet. This is still true if you use the three letter codes - ACC for Acton Central, ANZ for Anerley.
