Your train must have been late then. The speed varies on how early or late the train is, making the train reach the destination on time. Im not sure wether the pre TBTC speeds acualy matter anymore on the line.

Im not sure wether the pre TBTC speeds acualy matter anymore on the line. In practice, every train is leaving Bond Street southbound slightly late because of the OTT (dust prevention) 15 mph speed restriction coming into the platform. So Bond Street - Green Park is nearly always at full pelt. It is also one of the few TBTC stretches where the train is not really inhibited by target speeds.

Where would the dust be coming from in the speed restricted area? Anything special or just a very dirty tunnel?

I'd stick money on it being a vent shaft. Them things build up a lot of dust!

Sorry, I failed to mention the 15 mph is on the approach to Baker Street southbound. I understand that a huge amount of dust has been removed and the reason is to do with the interaction of Jubilee and Bakerloo trains (there is a tunnel connecting the Jubilee to the Bakerloo southbound at Baker Street). When ATO started I seem to remember trains were sometimes going as fast as 46 mph in the section where there previously been a 25 mph TSR. Not sure why they can't revert back to the 25 - though it is quite funny imagining the reaction of passengers standing with their arms folded waiting for the train to crawl in at Baker Street. Little do they know they are about to embark on a 'white knuckle' ride!

^^Is the speed going to increase on that section once the dust is cleared?

The real reason with the dust problem, is that due to the curved nature of the line, when in manual the drivers used to slow down alot to make sure they dont SPAD. The dust is all brake dust from this, so when ATO first started all the brake dust would get disturbed by the fast approach.
