One of the onerous tasks of modelling Class 501 EMU's is the window bars on the passenger compartment doors, 138 on each 3 car set. Having cut every one out, then stuck them on individually and subsequently doing the same on a North London Line 2EPB, I lost the will to live! Having discussed this issue with a number of people I am now looking at producing a batch of etches comprising 3 window bars per etch that will fit into the recess of a Bachmann or Replica suburban coach doors. This is very much a one off venture as I need to fit window bars to another 5 Class 501's (I know cries of get a life ;D ). If anyone else is interested in building Class 501's in 4mm and requires windows bars this would reduce potentially the unit price if I could add then to a single order. As yet the price has to be determined however I am only looking at recovering the production and the costs back so this genuinely is non-profit piece of work. The etches will be nickel silver so they will look the correct colour. Window bars were also fitted to a lot of Connex EMU's in the early 90's including Class 423 4 VEP’s a model of which Hornby is due to release soon. If anyone is interested in acquiring these 4mm window bars please PM me. Xerces Fobe
