Severe delays now due to vandalism. Those 92ts have had a rough ride. Is it me or is the Central Line worst when it comes to vandalism? I think they will need to invest in some new fencing like on the District Line to prevent this from recurring again and again and again.

Have you seen the cars at the Hainault depot that can be seen directly from a passing train?!

I don't travel that far out I'm afraid so I wouldn't have seen it. I've passed it maybe once or twice at night. I take it they are sore!

Have you seen the cars at the Hainault depot that can be seen directly from a passing train?! Previously vandalised cars have usually been parked at the southern end of the Depot (nearest the Station) and can be seen from passing trains.

The Hainault 'estate', and the even closer 'Limes Farm Estate' are areas where bus crews often refuse to venture after dark, so you must draw your own conclusions!

From what I could gather from the radio traffic - The vandalism ( smashed windows ) appeared to be occurring in the Stratford area. Trains on the west, those being discovered at Mile End and then more hits on the east with those being taken out of service at Leyton. The BTP investigated................and then I think there were two lots of sequence alarms to make a bad situation even worse. Queeensway and somewhere else........
It's not just the Central being vandalised. I saw a D78 with the same external paint damage as seen on the 92s last night at Mile End..............
Hey, don't slag of Hainalut via Noobury Parkalot. The place of my berfff..................It's grubby, but all in all still a great place to litter. Come n visit the US Nail Bar just outside the station along with the tanning salon, bookies, Cost Cutter, Plumbing supplies, Hainault Pets, and car parts shop. Yeah it's all a happenin'...... Oh, and the model shop, Kebab Cafe' masquerading as a restaurant and Keepsakes <<< though he seems to want top Zloty for what he flogs.............If I was to landing on Earth from say Murzz. I'd know instantly I was in Hainalut. Why? A glance at the ground will reveal the Hainalut peculiar - A wind blown crisp packet being held in place by a dog's turd............

Its quite civilised in the immediate vicinity of the station, Clinton Crescent used to be quite upmarket before they opened up the top end, its the hords flooding down from north of Manford Way where the trouble starts. Would YOU walk along past the parade of shops there at night?

Travelling south from Hainault, you are on what remains of the green belt, and land once set aside for development of the old Fairlop airfield, contender for London Airport, before Heathrow was finally selected. Strange as a GOOD rail link was actually in situ, but hey ho!

Its quite civilised in the immediate vicinity of the station, Clinton Crescent used to be quite upmarket before they opened up the top end, its the hords flooding down from north of Manford Way where the trouble starts. Would YOU walk along past the parade of shops there at night? Actually I find it's the vicinity outside the station that's the grubby part. Especially the bus stop going towards the forest. Litter and dog muck everywhere. Watch yer step! And late at night enough pavement pizzas to do Dominos proud. Hainault station is let down by it's entrance - A dark hole in the wall under a non discript gloomy bridge. Shame really as the booking hall and station upstairs is really nice. Especially the way it's been restored, what with the new lifts n all......but the problem area is as you say, or perhaps was........... ............It's the road to the top of Clinton, what's it called, can't remember. Oh yeah, Robina Close........... The area as a whole? Well it's not so bad these days. Touch wood the area has quietened down a lot over the years. Most of the Hainault estate I'd say is two thirds owner occupied giving rise to some remarkable sights. A two up two down ex council house with a black and white mock tudor effect complementing resplendent beams behind the Italianate portico supported by Greek Dorric columns. In front the excavated front garden, now a parking bay to park an SUV so big the only thing missing is a turret on top with a gun sticking out of it. This to take little Tyler and Jez half a mile down the road to skoool. Manford way parade has seen, like many other areas lots of shops close. SPAR has recently gone which came as a shock when I ventured up there the other day. It's safe at night. Sometimes on grub break I go up there to NISA at around 9pm and have never seen any trouble, well not that much. Sometimes I think that trouble is as much perceptual as real and comparing it to other places up n down the land of Liz 2 - Same Difference...............

Bloody hell, what really is the point in throwing stones and shooting at a train?

A favourite target for an unscheduled repaint jobs is the last Hainault train when it does the mainline shunt at Leytonstone. It sits out on the track west of the station for about fifteen minutes and more than a few times when I’ve rolled into the EB platform some little scoundrel has decorated the back end. You’d think the timetables people would have clocked onto the idea and run the last Hainault through the pipe but no such luck, it’s been there for the last three timetables.

Bit of a classic this one - it's no coincidence perhaps that when the local authorities across the capital have been told to cut back on non-necessary services, such as extra-curricular sports, which limit youth offending this story comes to light.
Unless they've incorporated 'throwing stones at moving vehicles' for the Olympics, in which case this story is very much a part of the legacy!

'McGuinness Reminds me of some of the events in the public information film 'The Finishing Line' - it's the worst direction, acting and production I've ever seen One of the events is throwing bricks at a passing train... you can see it at blip.tv/file/4356935

Guns do NOT hurt or kill people. PEOPLE hurt or kill people, the gun (or knife or whatever) are just the 'how' in the equation!

Which end of the tunnel and in which direction? I would like to go and investigate seeing as the BTP are feckin' useless.
Is there really any point in refurbishing the 92ts until we've put up half decent fencing and identified where this latest array of vandalism is occuring.
Also as mentioned before but wouldn't happen due to H&S...electric fences...nuff' said.
As for graffiti tags, these are area's where bored youths are still able to jump fences and carry out these attacks which brings me back to my main point...can e have some decent fencing in here!
Not the stupid fencing that typically spawns everywhere and can be cut with a garden tool, the type with long metal poles spawning out of the ground like they have on the Eurostar.

I actually heard BANG just as we got out of the tunnel between Stratford and Leyton Strange, I was travelling westbound on the central at about 16.45 (GMT) and heard a bloody great 'bang' as our train entered the tunnel towards Stratford. Was it an eastbound train that was damaged?

I suspect the cost of taking trains out of service, replacing windows and cleaning off graffiti is significantly less than the cost of putting secure fencing along the open sections.

I was waiting on the westbound platforms at Leytonstone, and a 'special' train came through heading eastbound, around 6pm-ish (not sure on the time). Was just a normal 92TS but with no passengers no lights, but also a smashed door window.
Also, with the not very good fencing at the moment, isn't their the extra cost of passenger disruption? Going into London last night there were quite a few problems, and seemingly much longer waits for trains in both directions.

Very accurate of you. Anything else off-topic you need to talk about? You have to try and think like a suit up at 55 and approach this from the corporate perspective. If attacks were happening more frequently then maybe LUL would actually consider doing something but as broken windows are comparatively rare and the service disruptions relatively minor they aren’t going to splash the cash to prevent it. Actually they don’t have the cash to splash at all after TfL had it’s budget reduced in October, that is why the new trains for the Picc have been put on hold indefinitely. The same with graffiti, as long as it can be cleaned off and the trains can physically run they are happy to ignore it. As I said earlier in the thread one of the favourite places for unscheduled paint jobs is the mainline shunt W of Leytonstone for the last Hainault train, all it would take is a revision in the timetable but every time we get a new one the shunt move is still there. I’ve written memos about this so management must be aware of the problem but obviously it’s not a big enough concern for them to do anything. Down here it's about trains running, up there it’s all about money.
