The cab interior panelling is Cornflower Blue, colour ref BS4800 20 E51. The Desks on both sides were originally black, T/Op and Instructor's side now specified as Dark Grey, colour ref RAL7016 which is pretty dark. Except for the very first few refurbs, the TMS unit was left as is in refurb (black?). The flooring is the same as in the saloon doorways which is specified as Dark Grey RAL7011 with 9% green, 6% white, 3% orange chips. I can't remember whether all desks got the repaint, nor whether the TMS unit is grey or black. Not been in a D78 cab recently! Perhaps one of the District Ops could confirm for us? The images do look good to me!

That is a very good representation!! A few observations/answers: - Hood of TMS is indeed Grey
- The foot rest/floor area is indeed still the original wood version
The offside door close button is in the middle with the open buttons either side EDIT: Just realised what I said about the offside door close button is incorrect - the images are actually correct

Thanks guys. The legend plates for the offside and nearside door buttons were taken off of photographs but I don't know if they are pre or post refurb ones. Were there changes to these during refurbishment. Also, with the wooden footrest, is that press stud on it for some purpose. The whistle is up on the control console.

Were there changes to these during refurbishment. What you have are post refurb. The nearside buttons were unchanged during refurb but the offside ones on the drivers console were different to what we have now - we used to have just two open buttons; to close the doors we had to get out our seats and actually go over to the offside of the cab!! Mind you, it was always handy if someone wanted a ride in the cab as we could employ them as a button pusher. Anyway, the close button came with the redesigned panel upon refurbishment. Also, with the wooden footrest, is that press stud on it for some purpose. That is the brake override device - it is used to release the brakes when a passenger alarm has been operated and the train needs to be moved prior the operated alarm being reset in the car.

Colin, do you know if the offside console that houses the flags is now the same grey as the drivers console as in the pics, or is it still black. I'm sure I only have pre-refurb pics for that side.

Thanks Colin. Is the tripcock reset and passenger open buttons still in their original positions on the refurb. Oh! and the big red emergency stop button.

Trip Cock reset is still inside the offside cabinet.
Passenger open buttons - do you mean the ones the passengers use by the doors? if so they're gone. If you mean within the cab, all button are as they were with the sole exception that the two door open buttons on the offside of the drivers console have been replaced by the three as shown in your images.
The red button in the offside front corner is still there too.

Thanks for you help Colin. Once I've finished modeling the offside cabinet, I'll post some pictures again to make sure I've got it right.

OK. The offside. Do you think the flags are a touch too large.

A little update. Hopefully one of our team will get me a picture of the saloon floor to texture the cab floor with. Are they the same?

The track looks like I need IOW pack then. I guess youve not laid the 4th rail yet as thats a pain?

Also, a good idea using the Google Earth images as a template

That cab is looking excellent!
Yes you'll need the IOW for the third/fourth rails or you could create your own lofted structure if you prefer using 3DS Max or whatever can export to RW.

Here's a quick update on the route from our PW engineer Dr_Eddie:- Richard Scott our illustrious 3D modeller has been burning the midnight oil to bring you his latest creation which is a nearly perfect rendition of Richmond Station. I've had to bulldoze my belts and braces mock up but it was no hardship to replace that with this soulful version. I've had a roam around the environs taking pictures here and there to give you all a feel for how real this all looks now. The plan now is to work back towards Stamford Brook which is where the track ends at the moment placing all the scenery. I will post more shots here as I go, so you can follow progress and see if you recognise the locations. Here we go. Happy Easter Enjoy Eddie And a few more:- Here's some more from todays work. I've been busy around the Homebase curve and even my gruesome mock up is becoming passable. I'll reveal all tomorrow. Then full parallel to Kew...........................I've got some fencing and Flower pot arranging left to do here. Best Regards Eddie. Here's a link to the post. Have a look at Richard's 73ts at the bottom. www.virtualdistrict.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=631

Getting better! A few things still: - legacy radio still in position - 'passenger alarm mute' switch is still in place - no cab air-cooling switches shown

Thanks Dstock7080. A couple of questions:- Has the radio been blanked over or completely removed. Where are the cab air cooling switches and if you look at the night pictures you'll find the 'passenger alarm mute' switch has now been blanked off as those shots were taken from a later date model. The night cab and day cab are now the same model and you will be able to turn the cab light on and off in the sim. Looking forward to this function. Thanks for your obseravtions. Trying to get this as close as possible. Darren.

Ah Right! So the cab air cooling switches are above and behind the driver and I see the plate you are refering too now. That's a great pic and I need to make the shoe paddle a bit longer. Roughly where does it end in comparison to the train number. On the first pic, I also noticed what looks to be a telephone handset on the left leg of the control panel. Is this used

Is this used The handset on the left leg of the desk is the Connect Train Radio handset that replaced the 'legacy' Train Radio. It's the same type of handset as the PA one, but on a slightly different cradle. I'll let one of the District Operators check where the end of that shoe paddle is.

Another little update. Been experimenting with raindrops on the windows. I had to turn the shadows off to try and keep the frame rates up.
