There is a photo on p.70 of RAIL issue 665 out today of a battery loco/ 3-car 1938 Stock train/anonymous battery loco at Kings Cross on 12th June 1975. Now, it is actually having just exited Kings Cross Suburban, via, as everyone knows, the steeply-graded platform up from Hotel Curve on the City Widened Lines. However, train 512 is not headed by 'locomotive L121': it says quite clearly '21' on the front. Also the train is not being hauled ' to Neasden Depot' as it is on one of the Down slow lines heading for Finsbury Park and thence Drayton Park station (going down the incline to the SB platform and then reverse). If it was heading for Neasden or Acton Works it would be going via York Road ..see the Class 31-hauled train on the 08.35 Hitchin-Moorgate on p.71 opposite, which is stopped at York Road platform and headed for the York Road curve. Nice shots though from Brian Morrison. It just happens that I do captioning of classic photos like these for my magazine.

Of course, a few years earlier it would have been going to Highgate Depot...
Sadly I never got to work the Drayton Park transfer when I was at Kings Cross.
