Today, I hopped on a H&C train westbound at Mile End at approximately 1600. The last two carriages that I saw had unusual flooring in that, there was no grooved flooring in the door area. The door surfaces and the wall panels also seemed shining new. If memory serves correct, it was unit 5606. Can anyone shed any light on this pedantic question?

Unit 5606 is the replacement for that damaged on 7/7. A few features are unique on this and 5734 compared with other C Stock.

It says built 2008. Was it really actually built then, or a reconditioned car from spares?

Without venturing onto forbidden territory, I believe the body was new but the chasis and bogies were reconditioned. Not sure about the underframe equipment. It was a good effort to rebuild the cars and it shows in my mind that whatever happens to LU, the show will go on. That is all I'll say on the matter.

What other differences are there? Or were they that well done that it's difficult to tell? And what to the door tread plates say?
