What a mess last night around 5pm-6pm. Get to Baker Street from Jubilee -destination Pinner. ''Severe delays'' due to I think defective train at Farringdon or somewhere down that end. Two Uxbridge trains on the trot, plus Amersham fast on the boards. No Watford or Chesham all stations in sight. Advice given over the PA ''get on first train to HOTH and then get Watford train from there'' Now then ,I know that trains to Watford rarely have started from HOTH(correct me if I'm wrong) but being a good passenger(sorry customer) I take the packed Uxbridge train and alight at HOTH.Platforms heaving. No PA ,no staff on platforms, nobody in the little booth.Went up the stairs hoping to find somebody in the know but all I found was a pleasant but disgruntled driver who also knew nothing more than I did. Eventually Watford train pulls in-full !! Obviously started at Baker St.Why did I bother getting on the Uxbridge one?Should have followed my instinct. Then it sits there for 6 minutes ''waiting for the Chesham train'' Eventually chugs off and arrive at Pinner having taken well over an hour from Green Park. As a postscript the train was filthy, smelly ,littered and generally unsavoury. Any explanations will be appreciated. The service seems to be deteriorating every day.The interminable engineering works seem to be having little effect.

That's good general advice... Bear in mind that if there are problems south of Neasden, they will start a fair amount of trains ex the depot. (and terminate a lot of s/b trains at Harrow and run them to the depot) SO there is a fair chance you will benefit travel forward and change at Harrow).

I was at Baker Street around 6:45pm last night and was confronted with the "severe delays" message but the Uxbridge I wanted was waiting there and I suffered no delay at all.
It's all in the timing you know.

The apparent cause was a defective outer rail Circle train at Farringdon about 17.25 which caused about 20 minute delay while it was got out of the way into Moorgate bay platforms. The delays a while after was the aftermath of the incident and trying to get the service "back on book".
Landau 1945 - you were in the thick of it. Manorborn - you were lucky.

Of course, for Pinner (and many other stations in the Harrow area), you can get the bus from Harrow Bus Station instead of waiting for a packed train. This may well be quicker (journey time generally less than 15 mins station to station on the 183 or H11) than waiting for the correct train when there is disruption.
