Yeah. I remember watching the Tube when they were starting the refurbishment programme for the D stock. The new trains would be anti-graffiti. The first time I got on a refurbished train, and at this time, there wasn't many in service, I saw plenty of scratched 'tags' and what not on the windows. The windows (except front cab) on D Stock were not changed upon refurbishment. A film was applied to all others, which was supposed to 'hide' the original scratching.

TBH, I think TfL still do a great job of battling the graffiti morons. I very rarely see any graffiti on trains, I only ever seem to see the remains of it (i.e. the Central Line stock has had it cleaned off, but paint has flaked off with it...better than nothing though). But, I do see a lot of window scratchings though. Unfortunatly, many people have graffiti as a hobby, and will probably not stop no matter what TfL or BTP do. Seeing many pictures of graffiti attacked trains, the Met seems to be attacked the most, probably as most of it is over ground. The A stocks have lasted well, but thats no excuse for TfL to just give up maintaining them properly already. NatEx East Anglia seem to just put their trains in service even if it is completely covered in 'art', TfL seem to be more strict.

You would have thought they would get out the paint. I've seen a car absolutely painted at the front of Hainault depot; uncoupled from DM set, I must note. I can't comment on NXEA as I don't use the service.

I saw the first clean set in months yesterday! 5147-5146 (I think these were the numbers, bite me) It was shiny and sparkling white and it looked amazing. Sadly 6146 had lots of graffiti on the side of it
