Surely we do see the work though... usually through "Severe Delays due to late finishing engineering works".... or new trains getting stuck on bits left behind ;D ;D

If you’re on the last train you’ll see plenty of PWay waiting on platforms for you to pass so they can access the track. If you're awake obviously

Not just the last train, I saw half a dozen staff (presumably p/way) when I exited from the second last H&C at Plaistow last Sunday.

Not just the last train, I saw half a dozen staff (presumably p/way) when I exited from the second last H&C at Plaistow last Sunday. Why assume P-Way? There are probably less of them around nowadays than other night staff. You'll see the odd P-Way walker or a mass of P-Way contractors where rerailing or reconditioning takes place but there are all sorts of staff waiting for the commencement of Engineering Hours many of whom will be contractors of one sort or another, cleaners, cable and equipment installers on various projects, signal maintenance staffs, drainage, sumps & pumps engineers, civil engineers and builders, fire protection & suppression installation/maintenance, rail greaser technicians etc etc. All the details are of course to be found in the EWSA and special notices which would be an eye opener for those who think everyone in a hi-vi is P-Way! Unfortunately like the Traffic Circular the EWSA is not for publication, nor the special notices, and are generally only available to those staff and contractors who work on or about the track and the various 'need to know' LUL operating grades. There are dozens of companies contracted to do installation and maintenance, surveys, inspections etc etc on the Underground both day and night all year round in many disciplines.

Apologies for the quality. Iphones are not brilliant in low light. I beg to differ! My iPhone does a very good job compared to a lot of other phones I've tried in low light. Especially using HDR. It is rather interesting to see what goes on overnight. Being a punter, I don't see everything that goes on behind the scenes!
