I am building my A60 tub stock from Radley Models and i am wanting to put in a cab light at each end and and the headlights and tail lights + salon lights to my train. How would i go about putting the headlights and the tail lights in and when the train get to the end of the line they change?? I don't have DDC yet on my test track or on the layout it self so how would i go around in putting this all in and it working without DCC?? Hope someone can help

I would user LED's with a 1K resistor in a series with each one. To wire them for DC is easy depending on which way round you contect the 2 wires determines which direction the LED lights up
Hope this helps.
If you want more info just PM me
Good Luck

Underground16...A humble suggestion: You might want to seriously consider DCC. I have converted most of my tube stock to Lenz Gold decoders with very good results. Not only do the decoders provide outputs for directional lighting (whose directional settings and intensity is programmable), but you also have power available from the track at all times. I run my interior lights directly off the track, more realistic for station and sidings. There is some learning curve and up-front cost, but DCC is definitely worth the investment in my humble opinion. ...And its worth doing the installation once rather than pulling the model apart years later to do the conversion, as I have done. cheers from Intervale

Wire the lights as common positive and fit your own decoder socket; wire the pickups and motor as well as lights to this, then it's quite a simple job to make a DC blanking plug that enables the usage of these lights.
If you wired the LEDs over two wires, switching polarity to change colour, you'll hassle yourself if you come to fit DCC. When I convert a model I always put a DCC socket in- life made 10x easier! Best make it DCC ready now.

It is relatively simple. If you're coming to the Acton show you can see how it's done.....

It is relatively simple. If you're coming to the Acton show you can see how it's done..... If that's being held on 12/13 March then unfortunately not as it's the weekend before the Nottingham East Midlands Exhibition and our group will be doing last minute checks and getting our layout ready which is being exhibited.
