If the Jubilee Line is suspended at Canada Water (today between London Bridge and Stratford), might it be an idea to: - inform people at other Overground stations - for example Rotherhithe - that they are better off going to Shadwell or Whitechapel and changing.
- Make on train announcements, so that the West Croydon arrival does not empty at Canada Water with people trying to get on the Jubilee line, and then having to turn round and get back on the same train.
Just a thought. And it never ceases to amaze me there are always staff at Rotherhithe that on the platforms when there is no problem. However whenever there is a problem there is never anyone assisting (where it would benefit people to have someone on the ground explaining things, and advising other possible routes. Announcements and staff presence at Canada Water was in contrast very good - with clear very frequent announcements, and staff very visible. (Is it possible the Rotherhithe CSA went to assist there?)

Canada Water is an Underground station and is therefore manned by LUL staff.
If the Jubilee line is suspended, drivers are normally notified by the ELL signaller over the GSM-R and should be making appropriate announcements at Surrey Quays (if heading towards Dalston Jct) or Shoreditch High St, Shadwell and Rotherhithe (if heading southbound).

There was no annoucements on my ELL train this morning, although the LUL employee on the northbound Overground platform at Canada Water made tannoy announcements about the Jubilee Line being closed which led to the passengers going back on the train.
However in the past the driver has made an announcement at Surrey Quays.

This morning a big sign at Rotherhithe saying Jubilee line had severe delays - much better!

My experience has been that Canada Water station closes if the Jubilee line is suspended - don't know what reason has been given though. Certainly makes for an funny journey afterwards. Rotherhithe gets announced as Canada Water, Wapping as Rotherhithe, Shadwell as Wapping and it's not until Whitechapel that it gets it right.

Isn't that entire section underground, meaning the GPS of the 378s' DVA can't function?

You would've thought though that someone would have considered this and given the driver a "next station closed" button.

However, it doesn't announce that the next station is closed, it only announces the station after.

Could I suggest to anyone in authority reading this to advertise the feature to drivers. I highly doubt the drivers concerned are too lazy to press the button given the very informative announcements made at Surrey Quays.

Scrub that, you think someone in authority cares?!?! They're far to busy checking that they have enough biscuits for those all important conferences, without out those the whole transport network will grind to a halt. Nobody appreciates the importance of McVitie’s to the smooth running of a railway.

I actually tried it week before last, it doesn't work that well to be honest, a bit hit and miss. Drivers do know about it, but sometimes it's just easier to announce it over the PA.

This morning a big sign at Rotherhithe saying Jubilee line had severe delays - much better! At Forest Hill, they had "Jubilee Line - Severe Delays" on the whiteboard this morning, however the line was back to normal by 0850 and the information didn't get passed on to the person on the gateline to change the status.

I'll suggest it to my manager's and see if a notice can be put up to remind drivers. But as redbond has mentioned, the system can sometimes be a bit slow to update the messages when it is used.

Another thing that irritates me when this happens is the way they almost close the gates to the entrance to Canada Water station - thus giving the (unintentional) impression that the station is closed and no services at all (LU JL or LO ELL) are running.
I do sometimes wonder if people get off the buses at Canada Water and then re-join the buses - in the incorrect assumption that no trains at all are running...
