A blast to the past this evening, a 165 pulled into Aylesbury from the south at about 17:35 with the destination 'Quainton Road' set. I tried to get a picture but unfortunately I was on a train and moving too fast to get one.

They sometimes run specials to Quainton Road when certain events are taking place, trouble is I don't know where to find any details of when they are running.

They sometimes run specials to Quainton Road when certain events are taking place, trouble is I don't no where to find any details of when they are running. You can try looking on the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre website ( www.bucksrailcentre.org) or on the Chiltern website. Trains normally run on the August Bank Holiday weekend and one of the May Bank Holiday weekends. The Bucksrailcentre site does show trains running on the August BH weekend (Sunday and Monday) this year, but the website has been 'improved' and it is hard to easily find the information.

Thanks for that Andy, I'll give it a try. (Any chance of a meet August BH?)

The bubble car is still in regular use. It runs the 08.02 to Risborough from Aylesbury every day. I'm sure it runs more, but I know for sure about this as I see it daily.

The bubble car is still in regular use. Chiltern are also having a second vehicle refurbished for use (car number 55034).

55034? That one is not in my book. Where is that coming from?

i seen these at aylesbury exhaust pipes at the front, was never a fan of these trains remember them some years go there's a few in the sidings around the station/depot.the new stretch of line that's reopened to services to the new parkway station looks to be a frequent service i can here the horn from the house as they approach the pedestrian crossing i go over this a lot where the two lines merge into one,the second line seems to hold waste container wagons and freightliner/ews services regularly on the way to/from calvert.

The first time I went to Quainton Road in about 1981 the shuttle service from Aylesbury was a four-car 115. The 'Quaintonian' headboard was bigger too!

The Hastings Diesels unit 1001 might be doing a railtour to Quainton Road and possibly Claydon Junction later in the year.

[In the voice of Deryck Guyler]
I thank you very much!
I think I will go on this trip, have only made it as far as Aylesbury Vale Parkway.

If I'm about i'll pop out to Quainton. Always good to have a look at the CO/CP stock too. I like the sound of those DEMUs!!

I suspect PRJB is equally glad that he didn't have to work out how to fit it onto an S stock DMI!

Despite attributing my words to Bighat (which would tend to give them more respect than they deserve!), that was the station I had in mind!
