Hi all,
During weekends like this, when the Met is suspended south of HOTH, how do trains reverse there? Do they use the siding between platforms 4 and 5? If so, then I imagine it would be a lengthy process to detrain, reverse into the siding, reverse back into platform 4 and continue service?

From previous experience as a passenger arriving there, trains don't seem to reverse - they arrive to the same platform they would depart from.
In the past this has been Uxbridge on Platform 6, and Watford on Platform 5 from memory...

All stations trains ex-Watford and Chesham arrive in platform 5, detrain, shunt via the siding to platform 4 and depart north. It isn't a particularly lengthy process - if you think about it the driver still only has to walk the length of the train three times, same as at Amersham for example.
Uxbridge trains reverse south to north in platform 6.
Fast Amersham trains reverse south to north in platform 2.

Today it seemed to me, that all fast trains would arrive on platform 5 and depart from there too, Platform 6 for Uxbridge services, Platform 5 arriving Watford trais would go into the siding and come in on one of the middle platforms. Well thats what I observed/worked out whilst waiting for people and a Chiltern 165

There is a crossover at the start of the dive under that Uxbridge trains can use from platforms 5 and 6. Watford local line trains cannot use this cross over and therefore must depart from platform 4 only. The time table allows plenty of time to change ends

When I was there yesterday (local platforms) I didn't see any detraining.

When I was there yesterday (local platforms) I didn't see any detraining. When I was there (both Sat and Sun), the driver was checking the cars on the Watford / Chesham trains as he walked to the other end of platform 5 (before going into the siding). |
