While watching the engineering work on the adjacent Chiltern line at Ruislip Gardens last night I noticed a mark on the platform. Approximately 32.5m from somewhere (the running in end of the platform?) by the distance markers on the rail. A short yellow line at right angles across the platform edge line. This appeared to replace an earlier mark that consisted of a square.
Can anyone say what it is for? A marker point for braking when in manual mode?
Thanks.

Greetings Each yes the CCTV answer is correct, at that, and most other platforms, there are 4 cctv pictures transmitted into the cab to assist the t/op with station duties, each of the 4 pictures should have a yellow line at the top and bottom to show the cameras are in correct alignment, ie with no blind spots. some other locations (Bank for example) have 8 pics to cover the curved platform, The new platform at Stratford on the westbound threw up a problem that had'nt occured before, ie wanting to view cctv on both platform faces at the same time, so what happens is, sitting at Stratford Westbound, the new platforms cctv images appear on the left 4 images, and the original platforms on the right 4, so thats another 8 camera location. Other locations which have platforms both sides, ie Loughton & White City, the image is only shown in the direction of travel. Now the theory has been proved at Stratford, i hear rumours they might change Loughton & White City to work similarly. Hope that explains it a lil' bit Charmed Phil ginstersrailwayphotos.fotopic.net/
