Can anyone help me. I am building a model of the underground 1/76 scale set in January 1967. I am starting with the Aldgate - Farringdon section. When was platform 3 at Liverpool St removed?

Early eighties I think, at the same time that BR was carrying out a major reconstruction of the Main Line Station.

An SA named Robin Mayes once stated on u.t.l. that the decommissioned platform was used as a set of Portakabins and contained the Liverpool St Reconstruction Site Office. When the job was finished the cabins were removed and the area permitted to rot. Apparently there is severe water damage to the earthworks behind the enamelled hoardings.

Thanks guys. All I need to do is find out which stations were open or covered in the 60's Don't forget that the Circle and Widened Lines were diverted in the Barbican area in the mid-60s in connection with the redevelopment of the area. It was probably finished by 1967, but I don't have an exact date. From a photo in an old book, work was in progress in 1965. If you want an accurate model, you are going to have to do some serious research into the track layouts. For example, at that time BR (LMR) were still running steam trains over the Widened Lines into Moorgate, so the track arrangement there was a lot more complex to allow for the engine movements.

The bay road at Liverpool St was in use right up to the station renovation, late 70's early 80's,the service from Chesham/Amersham reversed there.
