Posting from a 73ts, Waiting for my train at Eastcote, I bump into 5090/5091 heading for Uxbridge, antje's 1960 - 2010 from 11/12/2010 (last day of the chesham shuttle) writing was still there! Very surprised by this. Also I noticed a red destination blind on the back. Anyone interested it should be near Eastcote heading Eastbound now

Some trains do use the red destination blind. Reminds me of the old SR units EPBs etc that used to have two red lines were the train number was.

Was it just a blank red panel?

Mind you, that particular debate did take a new turn the other week.... A new turn.. that's the worst pun I've heard all day! I'm sure it was unintentional. Set it to something like Edgware Road!

Pretty sure 5090 was the front half of last Thursdays 8.26 Chesham - Aldgate (ironically!) and it looked like it had at least had some sort of wash since the 'last' day!

Well, 1960 - 2010 could still be clearly seen

Also I noticed a red destination blind on the back. I seem to recall reading elsewhere on here that if a tail-light was out, then the plain red panel should be displayed.

As they are now LEDs they are more reliable, although that doesn't mean they don't fail! Could the stabling light be used in addition?

I'll have a look for the thread regarding rear blinds tomorrow, I'm still on the search for something else! I've managed to find fairly much everything I was originally looking for (don't recall this on though) and a few more besides.... Will update if I see it, though I think it might have been in the chat area, and that'll take forever to find something in!

Bah, I've found lots of references to The Great Rear Blind Debate, but can't actually find the debate. I think it's in the Met board, but then again it might be buried in the old "Circles to go" thread. Bah, it's late, I need to go to bed, there's a talking glass of milk on the TV :S

Nope, it was where there was great debate from some that the rear blind should accurately reflect the train's destination (as per the rules I think, with counter-argument that the rear blind doesn't matter.

Unit 5090 still hasn't been washed:
Is there any reason why the DMs are more dirty than the trailers?

Maybe due to the fact they are at the front of the train and get all the rain thrown straight at them?

5090/91 unit still filthy on 1 Feb. Perhaps we are trying a new free and ever changing livery? Actually most A stock is quite dirty at the moment. Some trouble with weather and wash machines I suspect.

LOL, I saw 5090 again the other day, Antje's 1960 - 2010 Still visible but covered in a layer of grime! 5090/91 Is actualy quite a significant unit, on 'The Tube' (Im sure you all know its a documentary of the tube made for itv and now shown on sky3 usualy on weekends!) there was an episode where one driver had served for 45 years or so and was shown driving 5090 in a few of the shots, Im sure there are a few other things its significant for but I cant think of them!

Took 5090-91 yesterday from West Harrow - Eastcote and guess what? Yup, still filthy and noticably worse than the A60 unit that was leading the train!!
