I've put this under SSR rather than Met or Circle/H&C hope thats right.
The new-ish footbridges at Farringdon, the two that form a vee shape at the western end across all for tracks and platforms, are these permanent ?
The structures look permanent, but only this week I've used them regularly for the first time (knock on effect of ongoing fcc chaos) and the floor surfaces looks and feels and treads like something very temporary - in fact, very much like the temporary platform surfaces on parts on (fcc) platform 4.
I've always assumed they are permanent features as part of the general station upgrade and 12car works and readyness for Crossrail.
Ohh yes, while on the subject of Farringdon, has anyone else noticed that massive meccano like structure protruding from the wall of platform 1, talk about OTT for a (?)CIS (?)CCTV mounting ?

I also think that these are permanent footbridges, as there is a new, permanent, entrance at the end of them They are currently suffering because the surface seems designed for inside use and the temporary fabric roofs on the bridges don't seem very good at keeping the weather out. The trainshed roof will be extended as part of the rebuild and hopefully the bridges will then be resurfaced.

Thanks.
I did think about the entrances, the thing being I wondered if the bridges themselves were temporary to be replaced or relocated differently but still to the same entrance at a later stage of the works.
Lets hope the resurface them then.

As I understand it, the supplier of the footbridge went out of business during its installation, which explains why it has some temporary coverings and a general feel of being incomplete. It has been like that though for over twelve months so quite why the project team has not sourced a replacement supplier is beyond me.

I was under the impression that the temporary coverings were because a new overall roof will be put in at which point the footbridge wouldn't need weatherproofing.

I was under the impression that the temporary coverings were because a new overall roof will be put in at which point the footbridge wouldn't need weatherproofing. That's also what I've heard. What I haven't heard is whether the extension of the trainshed roof is on time or not? Obviously the temporary covering will have been designed to last for the planned interval between footbridge construction and roof construction, plus a bit of contingency. If this interval has been significantly exceeded then it could be that the temporary covering is beyond it's design life. I don't think I've been to Farringdon since the forum's trip on the last Circle Line train though, so don't know first hand what the current state of it is.
