I hope I am not tempting fate, but just wanted to say well done to the Met line in this cold weather. There may be delays, but I have got to and from work thanks to the Met. No use relying on Chiltern. I know Chiltern are having trouble with the weather further north, but they appear to have perhaps given up serving Met passengers with shorter trains (according to their web site / twitter feed, I've not seen many) and trains not stopping at Met stations (again according to their web site / twitter feed, I have not seen many of their trains).
However, the situation I think does show up the difficulty of communicating with the far ends of the Met line. I got the impression the other morning that the staff at Amersham had little information and difficulty knowing what Chiltern were actually doing, or not doing.

Chiltern *were* stopping at Met stations, but claimed otherwise on their website yesterday as they didn't want "their" trains swamped by LU passengers. That's one of the most cynical actions from the private rail industry I've seen for a long time, and another reason why these operators should be brought back under direct government control. (Won't happen, though.)
ps - I mean UK government, not German!

The emergency timetables available on their website both yesterday and today show(ed) quite clearly that their trains were/are scheduled to stop at Amersham, C&L, Chorleywood, Ricky and HOTH. The train I used into London this morning stopped as per that pattern and picked up a healthy number of boarders from each. THC

running those shorter trains is terrible,at amersham even after peak time they are full and they are expensive,no wonder national rail created about not wanting oyster readers.lu are good value in comparison, the only time to stay on chiltern from aylesbury is harrow-on-the-hill zones 5/6 and dont buy a specific ticket to harrow, for some bizarre reason it was between 80-90p cheaper to specify say hillingdon or uxbridge on a return ticket???.,the ticket works fine on the harrow gates.

Some at the tail end of the peak called at Amersham only. Apart from the booked 5/6 car 1Bxx services, the remainder were mainly 2-cars in length.

On Thursday 16th Chiltern put on extra carriages for the 2357 Marylebone - Aylesbury as there were problems on the Met and lots of people waiting.
Oh, and just a quick thank you to the station staff for keeping the platforms clear during the snow.

And what happens after the snow has gone? No service from Wembley Park townbound this morning. Not sure when the service was resumed.Signal failure AGAIN at Baker St.I thought of going there and changing to the Jube. but that was running slowly. So complete change of plan to get to Camden Town.Drive to Edgware from Pinner and go from there on the Northern. .Can hardly make plans to go anywhere these days. It's getting quite tiresome. TG for the TFL website.

<whinge> I'm quite happy with the front line staff, but really pi$$ed off with the website and the random timetable being run today. I'm not arguing against the running of a reduced timetable this week - just that it shouldn't be kept secret from passengers. No mention of the revised^Wrandom timetable that started N minutes late and turfed me out short of destination. I got tipped out on the way home too - which made me notice how toss the situation at Wembley Park is - you have to go more than halfway down the stairs to read the DMIs - who on earth thought there was no need for any display on the bridge? </whinge>

The points failed into Platform 1 at Baker Street which suspended the service for a time then meant that Platform 1 at Baker Street was out of commission.
The controllers - quite rightly - removed the Amersham/ Chesham services from Baker Street and maintained the Watford/ Uxbridge services with customers advised to change at Harrow-on-the-Hill for Amersham/ Chesham or they could take the Chiltern Service.
I do question the GOOD SERVICE BUT.... message that was published as the service was running 12tph instead of 16tph between Baker Street and Harrow which is only a 75% service which surely should have resulted in MINOR DELAYS. But most regular Met Line customers are very used to the service status messages.
A Saturday service is most pronounced on the Met against many other lines. Virtually every other line just has a reduced tph, the Met obviously runs a completely different service on a Saturday than a Mon-Fri peak.
On the subject of random timetables, and not to drift off-topic, got caught out with First Capital Connects Christmas random timetable which sees a Saturday service on some days, a reduced Mon-Fri and a made up service on others, so reduced/ strange timetable over christmas isn't the domain of TfL/ LU.
