Why couldn't LO run some form of service this morning along the core section of line between Surrey Quays and Dalston Junction or even Whitechapel where it's all underground.
Southern managed some form of service between New Cross Gate and Norwood Junction in the London bound direction, while the southbound towards Croydon which had a signal fault was full of cancellations from both TOC's.

They managed a Dalston Juncton to New Cross service. A shame they didn't tell passengers that at Forest Hill this morning, otherwise I would've got off at New Cross Gate and walked to NX. We were told to use London Bridge instead. Plus local media said the whole line was suspended during the AM peak.

BBC was reporting this morning 'London Overground suspended Dalston Junction to Croydon' useless information. It was closed Surrey Quays to West Croydon and Crystal Palace, with a shuttle Dalston Junction to New Cross.
Wish they would get their act together sometimes...

Sorry for going slightly off topic, but the BBC's morning travel news for trains is poor.
However that may just be from a train enthusiast's POV?
I appreciate that the morning travel news has to be quick and snappy, but still...

The TfL site this morning did report the Overground 'Suspended Dalston Junction to West Croydon/Crystal Palace' so your morning news was just parroting the source. Presumably they, and the rest of the public, should have been able to infer that since TfL did not report 'Suspended Dalston Juction to New Cross/Crystal Palace/West Croydon' that a Dalston to New Cross service was running--even though the entire ELL was highlighted on the disruption map! I often think that the person responsible for TfL's 'Service Update Now' page believes we can read his/her mind.

There were initial problems with getting units out of the depot this morning due to the current weather conditions and the disruption from last night. However, as already mentioned a 15-min interval service between Dalston Jct and New Cross started from about 7am, followed by the re-introduction of the Crystal Palace services from 10.30am and then a full service by 12noon although subject to delays and short alterations. We've been informed that a special timetable will operate for tomorrow and Friday if further disruption occurs.

Even the BBC London 94.9 news bulletins this morning mentioned the whole East London Line was closed.
It may have made the cattle truck conditions on Southern this morning if staff and the BBC used the information correctly.

At least BBC London 94.9 are being more specific today by saying it's closed between NXG and West Croydon/Crystal Palace.
Southern are providing a shuttle service every 30 mins from London Bridge to East Croydon which is serving those ELL stations south of New Cross Gate.

That's because that is the only section of the service not running It's a shuttle between Dalston Junction and NX/NXG, TfL says - but you can potentially run a near full service on that anyway!

However BBC London and LBC yesterday claimed the whole line was closed when it was open from NX to Dalston during the AM peak. It may be that LOROL don't want to risk getting one of their 378's broken down on the line putting the Southern services at risk.

That's possible. However Southern are running a shuttle service there at the moment.

This would also be wrong then? Most if not all the CP's have been cancelled again today, although Southern are going to Crystal Palace as part of their London Bridge loop service they're operating today. Spoke to my Mum who went to West Croydon who said the platform arrangements have been different today with the 1722 departing from Platform 1 instead of 2 and her inbound train on 2 instead of 4.
