How long has Tower Hill been subjecting passengers to patronisingly-voiced announcements about how to use the tube - e.g. stand behind the yellow line, let customers off the train first, while they are waiting for a train?
I was there on Friday afternoon. It was the first time I've used the station during the day in quite a while, but I don't recall hearing it before.

Quite a while now, maybe a year. A fine example of how a human being making announcements is much better than a machine!

I know this is an old thread but couldn't help replying. The type of announcement at Tower Hill is used at quite a lot of central line stations, worst of all at Bond St where it seems to be played about every 90 seconds, and on the Jubilee Line platforms too. I remember during a 12 minute gap in service on a sparsely populated platform they kept playing this, plus "ladies and gentlemen there is a good service on the Central Line". plus "Ladies and gentlemen, there is a good service on all London Underground Lines". Plus "ladies and gentlemen, as part of the TFL investment programme..." which was a manual recording and sounded like a dalek being strangled due to a long standing fault with the system. So there were almost back-to-back announcements. I suppose they think starting every anno. with "Ladies and Gentlemen" is to fool us into thinking TFL are being polite and respectful. I assume these initiatives come from TFL as a marketing exercise.
Much better is the type used on the Northern Line - polite and to the point.

No no, those are the ones where it says the actual line before the announcement! I think we know we're on the Northern line already!!

'Please stand behind the yellow line as the train approaches, use the full length of the platform and let customers off the train first'
