I thought it worth starting a thread to cover the exhibition on Crossrail being held at The Building Centre in London, which opened today. I'm hoping to go in the next couple of weeks, but to kick things off there's an article on p34 of tonight's Standard, illustrated by a large Underground map showing Crossrail. It's an interesting map. Unusual features I've noticed so far include: - Wimbledon - Edgware Road service operated by London Overground
- Stratford - Lewisham is also part of the Overground, with a connection to the DLR at West India Quay
- H&C line terminates at Edgware Road, with Overground operating services to the west
- Earl's Court - Olympia is now an isolated part of the Jubilee line
- No step-free access to Jubilee or Central lines at Bond Street, or the SSL at Farringdon
- Step-free access to the Northern line at Moorgate
- Step-free access symbol with no attached line at Stratford
- Mornington Cresent
- Queensway station has become Queens way
Yes, I'm picky and pedantic. But why does the ES have to draw its own version of the map? And if it does, why don't they proof-read it?

I understand the rolling stock will have wholly-transverse seating throughout which, for a journey like Maidenhead to Canary Wharf, is going to be really pleasant (not). Any further down the line you'll probably be standing anyway. The designers really have a contempt for passengers (sorry, 'customers') these days.

Yes, I'm picky and pedantic. But why does the ES have to draw its own version of the map? And if it does, why don't they proof-read it? Compare it with the offical Crossrail connections map www.crossrail.co.uk/route/maps/I did do a double take with Northern Line step free at Liverpool Street (actually means connecting to Moorgate) but no step free to the Central Line? Seems strange. Yeah seems they forgot to add the DLR Stratford International line but yet they had the step free sign at Blackfriars (which is due for November 2011). Why on the offical map does it has a * for Gatwick & Luton airports and a seperate box for Thameslink yet at Custom House it has no * for City Airport? Said map is typical ES not bothering to show things properly even when they're trying to be positive!
