The Bakerloo is advertised as being withdrawn between Elephant & Castle and Queens Park. I had assumed this meant there would be a service between Queens Park and Harrow & Weldstone. As I wish to travel this evening, I have checked the Harlesden Station departure boards several times, but can find no evidence of any Bakerloo service. Is the entire line withdrawn today?

There should be a 30-min shuttle Harrow - Queen's Park (and empty to Kilburn High Road to reverse) plus the normal 30-min Watford - Euston London Overground service.
Replacement Bakerloo buses Queen's Park - Paddington only. Fend for yourself thereon south.
Also same on 28 November.

Why is the line suspended today anyway? Curious

Just checked the departure board again (3:44PM) and still no Bakerloo in sight. I'll go down to North Acton and take the Central.

Just checked the departure board again (3:44PM) and still no Bakerloo in sight. I'll go down to North Acton and take the Central. Not the best service today with just a combined LU/LO 15-minute service between Queen's Park and Harrow & Wealdstone and just half-hourly beyond in each direction to Euston or Watford Junction. Still, it was a guaranteed chance to get some shots of Bakerloo Line trains reversing at Kilburn High Road. Too bad for N/B passengers that they couldn't depart in service. www.flickr.com/photos/24772733@N05/5155855536/www.flickr.com/photos/24772733@N05/5154327453/Should happen again on the 28th November.

Why can't they run in service? The platform is obviously in good condition!

As an aside, is the middle conductor rail on the NB/Down platform at Kilburn High Road just lying there or is it bonded to the running rails?

All 4th rail, since 1970, is bonded to the return running rail (normally the one next to the 3rd condutor rail) between Kilburn High Road and Watford Junction! Before you ask the 4th rail between Harrow & Wealdstone and Watford Junction is still bonded to aid current flow though very little has an insulator pot under it. The down line 4th rail at Kilburn High Road remains from when the crossover was south of the station prior to the 1988 resignalling, even being replaced when the line was relaid a few years ago. Last train to use it was the 1938 Stock Farewell during the mid 1980's which reversed at the south end crossover.

Why can't they run in service? The platform is obviously in good condition! I would imagine: A) The Wrong Road OPO mirror may not be up to current LU standards B) There is probably no Correct Side Door Enable equipment C) The platform step-up may be deemed too high Finally there would really need to be a staff presence to direct N/B passengers to the appropriate platform, as these would alternate under the sort of WTT operated yesterday. Could it be done? Yes. Is someone going to pay for all this? Doubt it.
