If you've not discovered these, there are some real gems. www.britishpathe.com/Type "London Underground" into the search engine and some fascinating clips come up. There are eight pages worth of clips. There is much for everyone, but as far as the Underground is concerned my own highlights are: A Classroom Film - Underground Journey 1967 Stock new on the Hainault - Woodford Post Office Railway Central Line extension to Newbury Park Experimental car 17000 - inside and out and between T Stock at Baker Street Experimental car 10306 in display at Northfields Rolling Stock Exhibition at Marylebone in 1961 - clearly shows A Stock 5004 and 1959 Stock 1098. Tube Train Crash Stratford Lambeth Training Centre Opening of Victoria Line 1926 film at Morden Drain gets new look (Travolator and single coach train at Bank) Enjoy - I certainly did.

You can still watch them on line. I watched 'Underground Journey' a while ago and what I found remarkable was that three young girls could make such a journey unaccompanied.

"Desecrated Damsel " - how fab a description is that? These days Mr Ware would have to have licenses galore, a look out man, wear a hard hat, rubber gloves and enough day glow clothing to light up the north pole in winter........What a great site, so many interesting clips..........!............

How long would the 'rubber man' last on todays railway? He probably based himself on 'Billy Brown of London town' the wartime propaganda character, some of the comments added to his missives are unrepeatable here.

He'd need a PICOP too. Person in Charge of Poster - to check that the rubber outer hasn't defaced said poster by rubbing too hard. No doubt doing that today would involve a response from SO19 and several BTP investigating Section 44 'offences'... A great selection of pictorials there... Have come across the site before. If only they'd do a DVD like the Film Institute did with the BTF series.
