Good luck with the project, looks great so far. I have also been thinking about N scale tube stock but I have only been messing about with them in card but I would eventually like to try and get them made in brass.

IIRC there was an 'N' scale underground layout at Acton about 5 years ago.

The Kings Park layout has N gauge 1938, 1959 tube stock and Class 501's and is my favorite N-gauge exhibition layout Xerces Fobe

Quality job on the 38ts. My myopic old eyes struggle with OO! The nearest I have come to building a body from scratch was to build new bodysides for a Little Bus Company Q27 DM. The air was blue on enough occasions for that. Good luck with the project and keep us informed.

Thanks for the comments all. Here's a bit more progress made this evening. The cab front piece on its own and in a dry run with the sides and rood to check fit. It's made using the same method, thin white styrene over a clear base layer, although I am using slightly thicker clear plastic at the ends for extra strength. For the domed cab roof I will use filler over a styrene base layer, though I'm not yet sure how to do the distinctive cab ventilator grille. Paul

Work on the tube train continues apace. I'm working on the rebuilt roof (the first attempt was badly out of true) and have applied and filed to shape the first layer of the filler that forms the cab roof dome. Meanwhile all the parts which are needed for the running gear have been gathered together. This Kato Portram from the Ffestiniog Railway model shop will be sacrificed to provide two tiny motor bogies. A load of 5.1mm wheels for the trailing bogies have also been delivered from MG Sharp. Thanks to Bernard for enabling their existence in the first place! Here's a bunch of screws, washers and nuts from Eileen's Emporium at Warley last Saturday which should form the bogie pivots and attach the car bodies and chassis together. I also managed to find some proper London Underground Train Red paint on the Phoenix stand, which isn't even listed on their website any more. Paul
