My first post on the boards since joining last night
I was out on Tuesday on a bash around London, and have a couple of queries about the circle operation and the stock too:
1. This new 'Circle Line' thing, Trains to Hammersmith are listed on the Dot Matrix as 'Circle Line' (at Victoria it was anyway) and on board the C stock it was announced as a Circle Line via Liverpool Street and xxx (St Pancras?)
Either case I thought it would be easier to just say Hammersmith surely?
2. Something I noticed on C stocks is some clicking noise when they power away, what is this?
Say from a stand you hear the motors whirring up then a second or two later you hear 'click click click click click click' and when the power handle seems to be applied again, it makes that series of clicks again. I assume it's something to do with the power?
3. Has the Westbourne Park GWML flyunder been upgraded recently? It's been a good year or two since I last travelled under it and I'm sure the train used to rumble round the 'S' bend but on one C stock travelling from Westbourne park, the driver kept the power on and the motors were screaming when we launched down the hill!
Coming to the S bend it was so smooth I hardly noticed it, and the motors were still blaring away and going at some speed too.
Last time I went past Westbourne Park was in May and there was LU ballast sets with battery locos there, so I assumed maybe the curve had been re-aligned to be smoother, or is it me!? (more likely
