To the signallers of the forum (Harsig, Citysig most likely) - why did u want to become signallers in the first place? why not driving?

It was a way into London Underground for me, I wouldnt want to do it for long as its a tad boring, and you are limited to what you can do / see more than what you are as a Train Operator. |

I joined the job to be a driver. I had also applied at the same time to BR, but all they could offer (at the age of 16) was to be a mail-run chap.
LU were offering the much better Apprenticeship Scheme (and the money was much better too.) So I applied, got one of the positions, and began my career - counting the days until my 18th Birthday and applying to become a driver.
Meanwhile, I was told to spend most of my days helping out in a signal cabin. After a few weeks, I realised this too was interesting, and by the time I was 18, I had chosen the signalling grade just had the edge on driving.
If someone offered me a job on the front tomorrow (for the same money) there is a chance I would take it.
