I have been trying to find out some information on the cannon street redvelopment. Neither TFL nor Network rail list this on their respective project pages and there does not seem to be much communication about timelines etc.
I was also interested in the apparent oddity of providing step free access to the westbound platform but not to the eastbound? With cannon street a stones throw from Bank and in the heart of the city this would have been a really useful place or disabled passengers to be able to disembark and providing step free access to one platform smacks of a half done job. An article on Londonreconnections pointed to a fully step free solution: "Further negotiations have been ongoing with the developer to provide step-free access to the eastbound Underground platform as part of the construction of this development. This would involve deepening the currently proposed lift shaft to the westbound platform by an additional level, digging a tunnel underneath the District and Circle line tracks, and providing another lift to the eastbound platform level. Such works would be at TfL's expense. This is very welcome in that it will eventually make Cannon Street Underground station fully accessible in both directions to persons with mobility impairments."
...but the latest TFL business plan seems to indicate that they are going to proceed with westbound only. Lets hope current plan allow for the lift shaft to be dug to the depper level so as not to preclude carrying out the whole job at a later date without too much disruption

Something similar has happened at Euston Square. Part of the deal with the Wellcome trust is to provide a lift from the Gower Street entrance to the booking hall and the westbound platform. Metronet was going to provide the lift to the eastbound platform and to the Euston Road. The Wellcome trust lift will come online before the end of the year, but there are no plans for the ex-Metronet lifts to be installed. Thus Euston Square will have a lift but will not be classified as a step free station.

The Wellcome trust lift will come online before the end of the year, but there are no plans for the ex-Metronet lifts to be installed. Thus Euston Square will have a lift but will not be classified as a step free station. Wasn't there talk about linking Euston Square and Euston at one point? Euston Square can't be far away from the Leslie Green bit of Euston in any case, about 400ft according to Google Maps. Risking a case of thread drift, I wonder if during the HS2 upgrade the Leslie Green bit of the station might be restored and reopened - it's certainly busy enough round there.

The HS2 version of Euston, based on current plans, will mean this old entrance on the corner of Drummond Street and Cardington Street is demolished - the platforms will extend westwards as far as Cobourg Street with Cardington Street obliterated.

Euston Square can't be far away from the Leslie Green bit of Euston in any case, about 400ft according to Google Maps. There is some sort of spatial anomaly between these pair of stations - (click for a larger, unmodified version)

The sign on the right should say 360 Metres, then it'd be a rough approximation.

Of course, at Euston Square, eastbound passengers can travel one stop further to King's Cross and change (on the level) to a westbound train to access the lifts. Not ideal, but better than nothing.

There is some sort of spatial anomaly between these pair of stations - The 400yd sign must be to the LO platforms and/or LU ticket Hall (extra logo on the sign), whilst the 360 yard sign must be to the main concourse

An update... I spoke to one of the site managers, and he hadn't heard about this being an option. As far as I can ascertain, there is only the lift to the w/b platform, plus a lift from the ticket hall up to the NR station. HTH!
