Was it last year the Watford Junction-Euston service was transformed into a Watford Junction-Stratford service for several weeks? I just wondered if the 378's had been run over the diversionary route between South Hampstead and Camden Road. I noticed that while the diversion was in operation, the trains seemed to run over this stretch of line at a much slower speed.

There is an ECS move after the morning peak which runs from Camden Road to Queens Park, where it reverses to run into Euston.

LOROL have told passenger groups that there is a possibility of the much appreciated Watford-Stratford service reappearing during the Christmas/New Year engineering blocks.

Yes, a direct train between Harlesden and Highbury & Islington was much appreciated and will always be welcome. Happy to know I wasn't the only one impressed with the special service. Just curious to know if it is possible for a train from Clapham Junction, calling at Willesden Junction to then join the DC line

I believe that such a service would require the train to pass through WJ HL reverse beyond it and then into WJ LL. To do this without detriment to the current service through the High Level platforms I would imagine would prove challenging. I often felt a platform on the tracks used by the through Southern services would prove a helpful interchange there though...

It was LOROL that came up with the idea of Watford-Stratford service, some in TfL London Rail were jealous that they never thought of it!
A WLL train to the DC would have to reverse at Kensal Green Junction, either on the up Hampstead Loop or in the RES turn-back siding.
North London Railways (remember them?) came up with an idea for a Willesden 'Hub' in 1994 which included the replacement of the slow line platforms, nothing ever came of it though.

Back on the 4th June when the NLL was suffering power supply problems I caught 378023 from Dalston Kingsland heading west which went via Primrose Hill to Willesden Junction in passenger service. Not exactly a scheduled working though.

Forgive me if it's bad form to make such a specific query, but does that ECS move through Primrose Hill always happen around the same time? Was just pondering to myself that a train passing underneath the footbridge might give an interesting twist to a stroll round that rather pleasant way some time, tis but round the cornerish...

Regrettably old son I was out of the area this particular evening, but should you ever spy a random lookin geeza atop the bridge feel fee to give it a cheeky 'poop poop' as you pass! (and yes, before anyone wants to point out that this would actually be impossible...)

Well for the time being there is an ECS from Stratford to either Willesden Tmd or Euston every Saturday leaving at about 20.25ish. Can't say if it will go via Gospel Oak or Primrose Hill..
Opp's almost forgot.. Poop Poop !!!!! ;D

Noticing your signature, wondering what's happened to routemasterkeith. Has anyone checked the Hampstead Heath tunnel?

For those who may be interested - Stratford HL to Willesden LL Bay (via Primrose Hill) scheduled for February 2011 during the next NLL blockade. I'll found out dates shortly and advise.

I quite fancy doing that, I envisage a commanding view of Camden lock and market, followed by lots of bendy bits and unusual tunnels. It'll be a treat to get one train between home and Camden proper

Martin So, it looks like we won't be getting a Watford-Stratford service again after all? Should prove interesting, trying to timetable a service out of the Low Level bay to Stratford while the DC is still running into and out of Euston along with the Bakerloo!

Was it ever suggested to run the Stratford to Watford Junction route as a permanent service, obviously this would mean not running trains into Euston so LO would lose a direct central london connection.

This would be popular with many people. I'd find it very useful myself for the year or so I have left in London (soon relocating to Brooklyn NY). Perhaps LM could organize peak hour stops at Wembley Central and Queens Park to compensate for the loss of LO services into Euston.
