When the Class 501's were initially painted BR blue with yellow ends in the 1960's at least one unit was painted with yellow ends that extended around the cab ends. Does anyone happen to know which unit(s) were so treated?

Quite a few were painted like that. I think it was only 1 or 2 units and the lack of photographs of units in this livery appears to support this. I am after the specific unit details as one of my models is in the livery (albeit not finished yet!). I also lived near Watford in the 1960's and remember watching 501's and the only saw a unit with wrap around yellow ends a few times. Xerces Fobe |
