For the weekend of Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st October, the SSR closures look like this:
Saturday 30th October: no Circle line, District line: Embankment to Barking (westbound) and Upney (eastbound), Hammersmith & City line: Aldgate East to Barking and Metropolitan line: Baker Street to Aldgate.
Sunday 31st October is the same as Saturday 30th October, but the Met has been extended to Moorgate.
If it is an issue of insufficient drivers to go to Moorgate on the Saturday, surely it does not take 2 months and 12 days (publication date of 19th August for the current version) to correct this?
If it is an issue of non-availability of Moorgate on the Saturday, then why is the Hammersmith & City line unaffected?
This is not intended to be a rant. I'm just curious about the ins and outs of weekend engineering work arrangements.

For the weekend of Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st October, the SSR closures look like this: (publication date of 19th August for the current version) Pass to the actual reason the service is different, as the engineering work on both days is the same (the only difference is an American Football event at Wembley on the Sunday). Maybe one of our timetable bods on here will reveal all. On the surface of it, using Aldgate East to reverse the H&C rather than Aldgate, and not allowing the District to use Aldgate East seems like a good excuse to write yet another variation of our weekend closure timetables (of which there have been a fair few of late - recycling previous weekend timetables doesn't seem to be something we do, with the exception of a Met timetable in use - at short notice - once again this weekend.) Given that at present the planned works and/or timetables being operated are currently being changed regularly 10 days-2 weeks before operation, anything could happen. So information published on 19th August will more than likely change. Not helpful if you need to make arrangements this far in advance, but that's how it is at present. The combination of Jubilee Line and S-stock testing have lead to some very short-notice changes recently. Get both of these projects back on track, and hopefully the works will go back to the steady planned nature they were before.

If I were a betting man I'd place the suggestion that Moorgate is a suitable place to reverse alternate Uxbridge - Barkings. ;D Especially as Whitechapel will need a bit of relief when its pruned. Only a guess, natch.

(publication date of 19th August for the current version) Which publication are you referring to ? From memory the Saturday service you quoted for the C&H doesn't sound right. I think Baker St - Aldgate is closed full stop for any trains with C&H operating a Hammersmith to Edgware Road shuttle. As Met Control says, a lot of things change these days with 2 or 3 weeks, sometimes less notice!
