I travel up and down on or beside the Met main at least twice every weekday (in the evenings any time between 1700 and 2000) and despite keeping a close eye out and always sitting on the right side of the train, I haven't seen any 'S' stock for ages. I spent a Saturday a few weeks back travelling down to HOTH in the hope of seeing (and even travelling on) one, but was stymied by engineering works - shoulda done my research properly...
Any ideas people? As a civilian I don't have access to the information that many of you do, so any news gratefully received!

The simple answer is nothing can be guaranteed at the moment.
There is an internal timetable which details test paths, but that is all they are. S stock is still being tested so it's out and about only when testing is required - the decision to run it could be made just a few hours, or even minutes, before it actually does so.

The whole" in service " was a gimmick. Thus proven. Don't waste your time even looking for it.....

Last time I saw it (and my first time ) it was just leaving Neasden Depot. From what I heard subsequently it made it into platform 6 at Wembley, suffered door problems, and was taken out of service, then limped slowly back. The Test op wasnt too happy about events either so I gather... I ask this not in an offensive way, but how comes more problems weren't detected up at Old Dalby? Is it purely because the environments are different? In which case why was OD seen as a good place to test?

The whole" in service " was a gimmick. Thus proven. Don't waste your time even looking for it..... Blooming long-winded gimmick - it has clocked up a fair few passenger trips. Anyway, ignoring Mr Deadmans clear dislike to anything new and let's not forget dislike to anyone's interest in trains, one of the pre-production (no seats / window vinyls) trains was out and about throughout Sunday between Wembley Park and Baker Street. As I understand it, a couple of software problems have been detected on the passenger carrying train which has limited it's availability to run in service.

Typical. I even detoured through Wembley Park at around 5pm today to try and see it and, since I saw nothing in Neasden Depot, I went home instead.

Back out today, with all its doors WORKING. Oh dear. I'm sure this proved a bit of a disappointment to those of you who think the future will never happen.

As today goes you were maybe 20 or so minutes late. But don't go taking that as an indication of timings for tomorrow as it may not be there at that time either.

Managed to get a ride on the S8 Yesterday, leaving Wembley Park just after 11:35. For some reason the auto announcing was saying "this is Northwood, the next station is Pinner" (or something like that) as the train departed Wembley Park.
Nice smooth ride, and I was suprised how big the drivers cab was!

I think they crashed it.
Well not really. The last (and only) time I've seen it was travelling to Baker Street, it was in that siding near Neasden depot that kind of goes down a bit under the level of the rest of the tracks. Seeing it sticking up out of the ground like that made it look like it had been in a plane crash.
