Hi. I've not seen an S-Stock train in the flesh but from what I've heard, they are on the lengthy side, e.g. a video I saw taken from onboard the Met line included the announcer saying that the rear doors would not open at Harrow on the Hill (I'm assuming this is due to length rather than any other issue). That got me wondering, how many stations will the S-Stock have this problem at? Are platform extensions planned on the SSL? Will SDO need to be employed more regularly at the stations where extensions aren't possible? Have I completely missed something? Thanks.

As far as I'm aware, once everything is up and running properly, on the Met Line there won't be too many stations requiring SDO.
On the H&C and Circle, some platforms will be / have been extended and others will employ SDO. Hammersmith, Latimer Road, Westbourne Park are recent platform lengthenings / in the process of being lengthened.

Current plans are for the Met S8 stock to use SDO at Liverpool St (WB: 1 Rear doorway), Barbican (WB: 1F, 1R. EB: 2R), Euston Square (EB: 1F), GPS (both: 1R), Harrow platform 4 (1R), Harrow platform 6 (1R until platform upgrade), Rayners Lane (EB: 1R) and Eastcote (WB: 1R). There may still be minor changes. Some of these may seem illogical but have been necessary for signal sighting. S7 stopping positions are still being worked on so there isn't a settled position yet.

Is the SDO in those situations only planned to be in use until resignalling then (where presumably they can be moved to make the full length of the platform available)?

It's hoped that resignalling will allow use of optimum stopping positions and all doors enabled at Liverpool St, Harrow 4, Rayners Lane and Eastcote. Harrow 6 should be fixed by bring the rear part of the platform to standards and then into use, the others have no plans to be extended - GPS, Euston Sq and Barbican.

Shame the line isn't 4 track from Baker St. to Liverpool St, otherwise the Met could simply skip those stations, leaving them to the Circle & H&C and removing the need for SDO completely.

So SDO isn't to be used at Ruislip atall? Under review again! Quite possibly all doors will open. Watch this space...

Fair play! Wouldn't have thought it'd be too tricky to put 5' extra platform in at the surface stations. Bar Rayners, naturally!

So, it's going ahead to open all doors at Ruislip platform 2 with the end barriers moved to the top of the ramps to give just enough room for the S stock to open all its passenger doors. Might not be like that at first but not too many weeks away into the future. You'd be surprised at how much 5' of new actual platform costs once all the peripheral costs are included! Just as well it's not needed here.
