Sorry to sound like a bit of a 'noob', but what is a Seltrac Sim? Thanks :-)

Seltrac is the signalling/ATO system used on the DLR and being installed bodged onto the Jubilee. Although the Jub is getting a modified version with all the added safety features that LU has. I'm sure you've been on the DLR before - see the wire in the middle of the track, normally raised up? That is to do with Seltrac. As for the sim part... well that's self explanatory.

Thanks! So they are trying to make Jubbly auto like the DLR? Don't see that happening anytime soon, especially if Tube Lines has anything to do with it...

As far as we are aware, there are no plans for driverless trains.
ATO is being introduced gradually, but it'll take years I'd imagine, and that still involves a driver.

Basically how the Vic and Central run. ATO start buttons (there's two that have to be held down to make it work) then when you get to the station open doors, close doors and hit start again. No driverless trains as of yet.. would be silly anyway. Despite what BoJo and the government seem to think no doubt it was conjured up by some think tank on 2 grand an hour that don't know what they're on about and have their head up their.... [/political rant, for the sake of the thread]

I wouldn't go so far as to drag politics into it, but driverless trains just ain't going to happen. Not in my lifetime.

The current system on the DLR is very similar to what happens on the Vic and Central ATM in terms of driver's perspective - just the PSA has to close the doors and such... it's not staff-less. It could be possible on LU but then there's issues such as train radio and the vast amount of switches. So no hopes for a view like the one you get at Bank either.. which is rather impressive a tunnel I must say.
