I have come across an item in the Railway Magazine for March/April 1946 referring to connections for Wartime (WWII) Traffic. It quotes that a connection between the Widened Lines and the Circle Line was installed by the LPTB on 20 November 1939. The location is given as immediately to the east of Kings Cross. No other details are given. Would I be correct in assuming the purpose of this connection was to bypass the flyunder at Farringdon that was prone to flooding? Any info will be much appreciated.

What about avoiding possible bomb damage to the flyover?

Not wise to put your e-mail address on a public forum. That's one of the purposes of the PM facility.

Not wise to put your e-mail address on a public forum. That's one of the purposes of the PM facility. Very true - which is why I've modified the post after noting the details. If you don't want to be bombarded by spammers, please use the PM facility to send your email address. The forum tutorial is HERE Be warned: it is a 10MB file - best make sure you have room for it in your inbox! It's not the largest LT file I have on this machine; that weighs in at a whopping 122MB ;D

Bear in mind the "new" Kings Cross circle station wasn't built then, so I presume the crossover was just east of the platforms. Was there room there for it? I suppose there must have been.
