Just wondered why the replacement buses do not serve South Acton, Finchley Road & Frognal and Caledonian Road & Barnsbury.

Finch & Frog and CRaB are definitely both on major roads (existing bus routes)

I don't know the area, but if they are served by existing bus routes, then it might be the case that it is felt there is no need to duplicate the routes with replacement buses.

Seems to me that Tfl choose the routes that the replacement buses take so perhaps it's down to them?

1. South Acton cannot be served directly as both sides of the station are on cul-de-sacs, with no room to turn a minibus let alone a double deck bus. 2. Finchley Road and Frognal is not served due to the roads and the layout of roads in this area. A direct route between Hampstead Heath and West Hampstead via Finchley Road LO station is unfit for bus operation. 3. Caledonian Road and Barnsbury is in a similar vein as Finchley Road. Buses go along Camden Road to Nags Head then turn directly right onto Holloway Road to Highbury & Islington, but with a stop at Holloway Road Picc Line to connect to Cale Road Picc Line. Offord Road across Liverpool Road and onto Laycock Street which is the direct route from Cale road is unsuitable for buses full stop.

Thanks for the detailed and informative answer RMK. Why on earth would anyone build a station in a cul de sac? Perhaps it's lightly used because nobody can find it.
