While I was on my travels through the Underground I noticed that LEDs continue to proliferate in all types of signalling heads, from the small tunnel type all the way up to the full-size outdoor type. However I noticed that a lot of signals appear to retain their traditional multi-filament incandescent lamps and Fresnel lens apparatus. Are these signals now the exception to the rule, or are both types of colour light installations being actively installed/maintained at the moment?

Most of the SSR tunnel sections have been fitted with LEDs within the existing housing.
I don't think any long range signals have yet been fitted (certainly on the DR).
It's quite noticeable in Hammersmith tunnel EB, where the DR signals have been done but the Picc not.

As yet there is no LED in development for the main lamp in Long Range Colour Light signals. I believe something has been developed for pig's ear lamps, though I'm not sure as to their approval status.
The main reason nothing has been developed is that the LRCL lamp characteristics are very hard to replicate in an LED and secondly, they don't fail as often.

Of course LED signal lamps have been around a long time now, we fitted them to the tube sections of the Picc more than 10 years ago. AFAIK they were pioneered on the Picc, we had several types on trial before the final one that was put into service. Of course LED lamps have been around elsewhere for a long time too, traffic lights such as at Hanger Lane Gyratory, buses etc for at least 10 years also.

The pigears were approved and have been fitted in some of problematic signals for doing MTCE.
