Was London City Airport ever considered as a possible Crossrail Station?
Also why is it not a station, as the current route passes just south of London City Airport on the old NLL tracks before going into a tunnel just before the disused North Woolwich Station.
They could start new tunnels from the Connaught Road Tunnel that go under London City Airport, with an underground station here and then continuing under the Thames to the new Woolwich Crossrail Station.

There is a little bit (but not much) information at www.lcacc.org/access/index.html#CrossrailBasically I think the issue is cost - it's much easier and cheaper to reuse the old trackbed than build new tunnels.

I think there is future provision for a station at LCY, read it somewhere but can't remember where (it is mentioned under the 'Silvertown railway station' wiki entry). I'd guess it would be roughly midway between Custom House and Woolwich Crossrail stations, i.e. due south of DLR London City Airport station, incidentally roughly where Silvertown railway station used to be.
