I spotted this thread a couple of days ago, and I'm still trying to think of something witty to say about it!
At least we know the future plans for the Vic extension.....

As well the offical current Tube map you download off the TfL website also is wrong with no ticks on the Circle line between Embankment and Cannon Street (ah so back to a fast service like the old day!)

Oh yeh!! Never noticed! (actually, it's the District 'ticks' missing- Gloucester Road and St. James's Park too)

On the May 2010 paper map (which I think is still the current one), the station names and ticks for Temple and Blackfriars are outside the Circle between the lines and river. To make room for this the lines and river are further apart - the Circle and District lines continue horizontally from Monument until just after Cannon Street. The station names and ticks for Cannon Street and Mansion House are inside the Circle. This is the way that the area is shown on the May 2008 paper map (the only other version I have to hand) so I'm guessing the online one is the one that has changed, and that the ticks have been lost in this process.
A different question is why the change? Is there something new coming in the area between the Circle, Central, Picc and Northern lines? Are there new riverboat piers at one or more of Temple, Blackfriars, Mansion House or Cannon Street?

I've also just noticed that the District Line tick at St James's Park is also missing. The representation here hasn't changed, so the reason is even more puzzling.

I have a May 2010 paper map here and St. James's Park has both the Circle and District ticks. Also looking at a much older (online) map (that is from when the Victoria line was closing at 10pm monday-thursday) and the ticks on Temple are pointing outside and Blackfriars is showing an interchange circle, with the names outside the circle.

Last December Gloucester Road lost its District tick mark.
