Hello all. I know I have mentioned this somewhere beore and sorry to bring it up again. I really want parts of the old metropolitan stock which soon will no longer exist. I have a really big long garden and on one side of the wall I want it to be a metropolitan train. Not the wheels or underside. Just the paneling and windows. I really think this will look good and seing as the trains are being scrapped it would be a shame to have them melted rather than put to some use. My idea is to take of one whole carriage all the doors/windows/panels and part of the whole roofing (obviously using tools) and have my skilled bloke I know put it up on the side. Please please can somebody tell me or link me with the scrap yard they are going to or someone I can get hold of who can make my project come through. I am willing to pay money in reason which I can afford to do this. I have tried TFL frantically to no avail. No one seems to know where they will go. Thanks for any help.
Much appreciated.

It's possible the tendering process for scrapping hasn't been completed yet. Prime suspects include Booth's of Rotherham, but there are a few others. If you do get what you're looking for,can I have a luggage rack with umbrella hook (the larger size one) as it would look good in my hall?

Been thinking exactly the same thing!! The luggage rack/umbrella hooks could deffinitely be a desirable item, and the comercial arm of TfL would be missing quite a trick if it didn't try and flog them, even if through the museum. A solid and useful piece of design there. There must be depot fitters who've thought the same thing, even in passing...

Please spare a thought for poor Metman! He'll have an advanced order in, probably dating back to 1960/62 ;D [Disclaimer] I know he's younger than me, and even I couldn't have put an order in that early! [/Disclaimer]

Yeah I was born in 1981! I'll be organising something don't worry! I heard Eastleigh was to be their fate.
