Was this some kind of TBTC trial ops ?
Reason I ask is, there was a special version ''Traffic Controller'' traction current and signals diagram (sorry forget the official name) issued for TBTC ops STR-GRP only for 3/4 July only.
If so, how did it go ?

3rd/4th July was a trial ops weekend with special signal diagrams issued for this wekend only. Basically the system is working allbeit with plenty of "issues". Next weekend (10th/11th July) is supposed to be the first weekend that the public will get to try it out. It has to be said that this is a "maybe" as It has to be decided by LU and Tubelines/Thalys if the weekend just gone was a sucsess or not. I would say if it goes ahead then dont use the section between Waterloo & Stratford if you are in a hurry!

Hi - what kind of "issues" are we talking about? Are they fairly minor niggles which would need to be ironed out?

'Issues' include:
- door failures on PED stations (PEDs and train doors refusing to open simultaneously, &c.) - where the above has taken place, failure of the RTDI to illuminate - after PTI is carried out and doors shut, no forward movement (sometimes after experiencing the above) - at North Greenwich Platfoms 1 & 2 (an island platform), both RTDIs illuminating for each platform when a train departs from Platform 2, which can imply to station staff that a train on Platform 1 has been routed into the same road at the same time - trains stalling across points in various places all over the shop...
I could go on. There was also something at Stratford that could've turned into a big broo-hah-hah a few weeks back at another trial ops. I'd really like to elaborate, but that'd open a big can of worms.
Also, from the drivers' point of view – they are all used to driving to exactly the target speed. So if it's 20, they'll be driving 20. Under TBTC, they find they have to keep about 5mph slower than the target speed because it's so sensitive that if you overspeed by 1mph you get the emergency brakes come on. A bit of a pain in the bum if you get this happening time after time.

I notice from here: www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1166345that the Jubilee is not likely to be finished by the Autumn. Can that be possible, that these issues (sound like electrical or software issues) will take over 6 months to resolve?

I notice from here: www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1166345that the Jubilee is not likely to be finished by the Autumn. Can that be possible, that these issues (sound like electrical or software issues) will take over 6 months to resolve? You'd be surprised. The 96TS has its own computer system, then the PEDs have their own operating system as well. So already you've got two bits of software. Then there's the software used up at Neasden. Three. Not to mention the software linked from there to the stations. Four. If you look at the signalling structure as well, each section of the line (called VCCs) have three computers talking to each other, and two have to agree in order for an action to go ahead. Trackside equipment obviously have their own kinds of firmware or whatever to configure too. With all of that to consider, if all the other stuff is operating okay, but one isn't, then you have to assume that perhaps maybe something else isn't working how it should. The way things have been going the last couple of months, I wouldn't be surprised if TBTC isn't ironed out this year.
